Five Arrested in Meth Lab Bust at Sylacauga Motel
SYLACAUGA, Ala. -- A tip led Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force agents and Sylacauga police to a methamphetamine lab found in a vehicle parked at Super 8 Motel in Sylacauga.
Officers yesterday morning arrested two men and three women on meth-related charges. The five had lived at the motel.
Police identified the suspects as 36-year-old Richard Pulcifur, 26-year-old Bobby Joe Helms, 41-year-old Sherri Ogle, 33-year-old Melanie Layton and 25-year-old Misty Shellnutt, all of Sylacauga.
Drug task force commander Jason Murray says three batches of meth were being produced in a Jeep at the time of the arrests.
Along with the lab and methamphetamine, officials found about $4,500.
Police said Pulcifur -- released from prison in December of 2004-- is currently on probation for manufacturing methamphetamine.
